How accurate are panleukopenia tests?
In cats suspected of having clinical panleukopenia infection, when testing with rapid test, due to the limitation of methodologies, the accuracy is 80% or higher. However, when the cat already shows typical symptoms of FPV infection, testing with anal swabs or fecal samples will produce more accurate result, when vomit sample is used, the accuracy will be even higher (>90%).
