Basic information of ICH, CPV and CDV

Canine Infectious Hepatitis Virus (ICH): This virus, also known as Canine Adenovirus Type 1 (CAV-1), causes an acute liver infection in dogs. It can also affect wolves, coyotes, and bears. The virus spreads through the feces, urine, blood, saliva, and nasal discharge of infected animals. Symptoms include fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, and jaundice. Vaccination has significantly reduced the incidence of ICH, but it remains a concern in unvaccinated populations³.

Canine Parvovirus (CPV): CPV is a highly contagious virus that primarily affects puppies and unvaccinated dogs. It targets rapidly dividing cells, particularly in the intestines, leading to severe gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea (often bloody), and dehydration. The virus is transmitted through direct contact with infected dogs or contaminated environments. Prompt veterinary care and vaccination are crucial for prevention and treatment¹.

Canine Distemper Virus (CDV): CDV is a serious and often fatal disease that affects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems of dogs. It is caused by a paramyxovirus and spreads through airborne exposure (coughing and sneezing) and direct contact with bodily fluids. Symptoms include fever, nasal discharge, coughing, lethargy, and neurological signs like seizures. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent CDV, as it remains a significant threat to unvaccinated dogs¹².

Ringbio’s canine 3in1 ELISA kit is based on indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay to detect the specific antibodies of the 3 virus in dog serum or plasma. There is no special instruments are required during the operation, simply and accurately. The result is specific and accurate, and can be used to help the vet to monitor the vaccine antibody level in pets.
