Canine coronavirus and COVID-19 belong to the genus Coronaviridae, both of which are RNA viruses. But canine coronavirus (CCoV) is different from COVID-19. CCoV does not affect people, and CCoV causes gastrointestinal problems in dogs, not respiratory disease. While COVID-19 is a virus that causes respiratory disease, and COVID-19 can be transmitted from humans to dogs, dogs tend not to infect humans through their fur.
