Leptospira is a genus of spirochaete bacteria, including a small number of pathogenic and saprophytic species. Leptospirosis in dogs is a bacterial infection that spreads through the bloodstream. Dogs can get leptospirosis from puddles or bodies of water that carry urine from infected wildlife, while cats most commonly can get leptospirosis from stagnant water that has been contaminated by another infected animal. The disease affects virtually all mammals.

This kit uses fluorescence probe PCR (RT-PCR) method to detect the deserved gene of Leptospira, which is helpful for diagnosis, monitoring and epidemiological investigation of Leptospira.
