Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a Lentivirus that affects cats worldwide, with 2.5% to 4.4% of felines being infected. FIV compromises the immune system of cats by infecting many cell types, including CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, and macrophages. FIV can be tolerated well by cats, but can eventually lead to debilitation of the immune system in its feline hosts by the infection and exhaustion of T-helper (CD4+) cells.
Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a retrovirus that infects cats. FeLV can be transmitted from infected cats when the transfer of saliva or nasal secretions is involved. If not defeated by the animal’s immune system, the virus weakens the cat’s immune system which can lead to diseases which can be lethal.
Cat scratch disease (CSD) is a bacterial infection caused by Cat scratch disease (CSD) is a bacterial infection caused by Bartonella henselae. Most infections usually occur after scratches from domestic or feral cats, especially kittens. CSD occurs wherever cats and fleas are found. . This kit uses fluorescence probe PCR (RT-PCR) method to detect the deserved gene of FIV, FeLV, and Bartonella henselae, which is helpful for diagnosis, monitoring and epidemiological investigation of FIV, FeLV, and Bartonella henselae.
